Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Releases Drug Overdose Fatality Report

Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet 2023 Drug Overdose Fatality Report says statewide there has been a nearly 10-percent decrease in overdose deaths from 2022 to 2023 at a state level.

However, in Johnson County, 12 people died because of drug overdoses in the last year.

In 2022, the total was eight.

Johnson County Coroner J.R. Frisby told the Paintsville Herald that he wasn’t sure why the prevalence was rising, apart from the higher proliferation of fentanyl.
