Johnson County Fiscal Court Awarded Over 4 Million Dollars for Pedestrian Walkway Project

If you watched Governor Beshear’s Team Kentucky Update on Thursday, you also saw Johnson County Judge-Executive Mark McKenzie.

Johnson County was awarded over four million dollars to add a multi-use walkway along KY-321 in Paintsville.

The announcement was also posted on the Johnson County Community and Economic Development Facebook page:

We’re excited to announce that Johnson County has been awarded TAP funding in the amount of $4,714,887 to construct a brand-new Shared Use Path along KY 321 in Paintsville!

This 0.9-mile path will connect several schools, our hospital, residential areas, businesses, and more—providing a safe, well-lit route for pedestrians. Not only will it improve safety for everyone, but it will also provide connectivity for our community, offering safer, more accessible ways to travel for everyone. Whether you’re walking to work, exercising with your family, shopping, or heading to school, this new path will make a big difference in our daily lives.

Stay tuned for updates as we begin work on this exciting addition to our community. Thank you to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Governor Andy Beshear for supporting this vital improvement for our community!
