Large Area of Johnson County Impacted by Boil Water Advisory

BOIL WATER ADVISORY

Due to a main line break, although no contamination has been confirmed, Paintsville Utilities has voluntarily issued a boil water advisory for the Wittensville, Staffordsville and Hagerhill communities of Johnson County. The affected areas will be:

-From the intersection of KY RT 321 & US 460 to the Intersection Of KY RT 321 with US 23 North.

– From the intersection Of KY RT 321 with US 23 North to the intersection of US 23 North with Lindy Branch at Nippa but not including Lindy Branch.

-From the Intersection of US 23 North with KY RT 993 to the Intersection of KY RT 993 with Baker Branch at Tutor Key but not including Baker Branch.

-From the Intersection of KY Rt 321 & US 460 to the intersection of US 460 with and including Horne Branch at Staffordsville.

-From the intersection of US 460 & KY RT 40 West to the intersection of KY RT 40 West with Samual Drive at Staffordsville.

-From the intersection of US 460 with US 23 South to the intersection of US 23 South with KY RT 1428 at Hagerhill.

– From the intersection of US 460 with KY RT 2039 (Rockhouse Road) to the intersection of KY RT 825 with Asa Creek Road but not including Asa Creek Road.

This will also include all hollows and side roads in the affected areas.

This advisory is being issued as a precautionary measure and is in effect until further notice.

Paintsville Utilities advises all customers in the affected areas to boil their water before using it for drinking, making ice, cooking, washing dishes, brushing teeth or food preparation. Bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for three minutes, and let it cool before using. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
