Kentucky lawmakers are considering a couple of measures that would give school administrators some flexibility when it comes to handling unexpected days off.
House Bill 631 would allow the commissioner of education to extend up to ten disaster relief attendance days if students remain out of class for extended periods.
House Bill 635 would set up a waiver of five days for districts that are not able to get to the required instruction hours by June tenth.
Many school systems in Kentucky are looking at potential make-up days before the end of the year due to closures caused by the January winter storm.
