The Cincinnati Reds suffered another heartbreaking loss Wednesday night, falling to the Cubs 7-6 in 10 innings for their third straight walk-off defeat. Cincinnati has now lost six straight games on the road trip, including four consecutive one-run losses. The Reds rallied in the ninth inning after trailing 4-2. Spencer Steer started the comeback with a solo home run, while JJ Bleday added a game-tying RBI single. Elly De La Cruz then lifted a sacrifice fly that helped Cincinnati take a 6-4 lead.

Graham Ashcraft gave up a game-tying two-run homer to Pete Crow-Armstrong in the bottom of the ninth. In the 10th inning, reliever Brock Burke walked in the winning run as the Cubs completed the sweep. Reds bullpen continued to struggle, posting a 9.19 ERA over the last eight games.

The Reds now sit at 20-17, five games behind the Cubs in the National League Central heading into Thursday afternoon’s series finale.
