A man from West Virginia, Timothy Wayne Roberts, of Fort Gay, is facing additional charges after he escaped custody in Inez.
Roberts was being transported to another West Virginia jail.
While at the Martin County Sheriff’s Office in Inez, Roberts got away from deputies and ran into a busy parking lot, then ran into a nearby creek where he fell down an embankment into the water.
Deputies caught up to him and Roberts was arrested and now faces charges of escape and fleeing or evading police.
