The Johnson County School District is one of 12 districts around the state that will receive part of over $3 million in federal grant money through the U.S. Department of Education’s Gear Up Elevate grant.
The seven-year federal initiative is designed to expand postsecondary access and success for underserved students in rural, high-poverty communities.
The other school districts include Boyd, Lawrence, Magoffin, Martin, and Rowan counties districts.
