Lady Eagles Capture their 1st 2A Region Title

The Johnson Central Lady Eagles Won their 1st 2A Section 8 (Region) Championship last night (Tuesday, January 14) over Perry County Central (76-33). JCHS led from the start, jumping out to an early double digit lead and never let the Lady Commodores get close. Tenacious Defense has always been the calling card of a Coach Jim Hicks Team and the Lady Eagles used that “D” to dominate Perry Co Central in the Championship Game.

Johnson Central would lead PCC 28-6 after the 1st Quarter. 46-18 at the Half. 61-22 at the End of the 3rd Quarter and 76-33 the Final. The Lady Eagles had Balanced Offensive Numbers. Leading the way was Sr. Kaylyn McKenzie with 14 pts, Karlea Stanley had 13 pts., Adyson Burchett scored 12 pts (also led the team with 9 rebounds) and Hayley Marsillett rounded out the double figures scoring with 10 pts.

Johnson Central (14-2 on the season) will now make their 1st appearance in the Class 2A State Tournament in Owensboro, Ky. They will play Taylor County in their 1st Game on Friday, January 17 @ 3:30 CST. Taylor County is 12-4 overall on the season and has defeated the Lady Eagles (69-65) in Double O.T. in a game on December 28 in the Marlin Christmas Classic in Panama City, Florida.
