Long-Time Belfry Football Coach Dies

The long-time head football coach at Belfry High School has died from the injuries he received in a Saturday morning crash. 

Coach Philip Haywood had been the head coach at the school since 1984.   

The Pike County Superintendent Freddie Bowling posted on social media that Haywood was “known for his integrity, Christian values, leadership and kindness.” 

The post went on to say that he touched the lives of countless players, coaches, and communities.
