The following is a release from Johnson County Schools:
Johnson County Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Monica Daniel as the new principal of Johnson Central High School. Daniel is a 27-year veteran of Johnson County Schools and is one of the most experienced educators to ever serve in the role of principal at JCHS.
Daniel began her career as a business educator at Johnson Central in 1997 and in 2003 became the Vocational Team Leader. She served in those dual roles until 2012 when she took over as the Career and Technical Principal at JCHS. In 2021, Daniel expanded her role to also take over district level duties as the Federal Programs Director while also assisting with professional development.
Under Daniel’s leadership, the Johnson Central Career and Technical Center has grown into one of the largest CTE Centers in the state. The 32 different career pathways she has coordinated at JCHS are the most in all of eastern Kentucky. She has also worked with multiple principals and curriculum directors to design scheduling opportunities for students that include vast options for AP, technical and college dual credit courses.
“It is with great honor and much excitement that I begin my journey as principal of Johnson Central High School,” said Daniel. “I am so fortunate to be chosen to lead such a high achieving school with the most opportunities available throughout eastern Kentucky.”
Daniel has spent the vast majority of her life involved with Johnson County Schools as she is a 1988 graduate of Johnson Central while her husband Rick is a 1986 graduate. Their three children Kealy, Bailey and Macy also graduated from JCHS.
Even though she has played a big role in the tremendous growth and success that Johnson Central has experienced over the past two decades, she is even more excited about the future. “With the opening of a new state of the art high school in a few years, the sky is truly the limit,” said Daniel. “I look forward to what the future holds for JCHS and our incredible students and staff.”
