Oil Springs Woman Arrested After Allegedly Leaving Children Alone for Two Days

A woman from Oil Springs, Carolyn Gibson, has been arrested after she allegedly left her two children alone for two days. 

Both children were under the age of 12. 

The Paintsville Police Department went to the apartment on Washington Avenue to investigate a complaint that the children had been heard saying their mother had not been home for two days. 

The Herald reported that when entering the apartment, the officer found horrible conditions including  dried feces on the floor, spoiled food, dead flies on the dishes and ceiling. 

Social Services was called, and Gibson was taken to the Big Sandy Detention Center and was released the following day.
