William Peterson, of Pikeville, has been arrested and charged with assault of his girlfriend who was recovering from open-heart surgery.
Pikeville Police said two officers were approached by a woman who claimed Peterson came home drunk and punched her in the chest.
Police said Peterson was found at the home and appeared to be intoxicated when he was arrested.
