PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WSIP) – A former Pike County substitute teacher has been sentenced to two years in prison in connection with a case involving a teenage student.

Twenty-eight-year-old Hunter Plymale was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to third-degree rape.

The case began in 2022 after a 15-year-old reported she was raped by Plymale on a remote road in the Sydney community of Pike County.

Plymale was working as a substitute teacher assigned to Belfry Elementary School at the time of the incident.

Pike County Schools terminated Plymale following the allegations. He was taken into custody after sentencing and is now registered as a sex offender.
