A former Elliott County Ambulance Service director is facing six felony charges following an investigation by the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.
A grand jury indicted 40-year-old Michael Burling on charges including abuse of public trust, theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking, tampering with public records and possession of a forged instrument.
Investigators allege the crimes occurred between 2018 and 2024 while Burling served as ambulance service director, accusing him of fraudulently using employer funds and falsifying records.
Burling was arraigned Monday and is scheduled to return to court August 10th for a pretrial conference.
The charges are allegations, and Burling is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
