Paintsville Police Department Welcomes New Officer

The Paintsville Police Department has added a new patrol officer. Chase Owens has joined the department after serving three years as a Public Safety Officer at the University of Pikeville. Owens is a graduate of UPIKE, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and was also a football student-athlete. Blood Drive in Paintsville Aims to Replenish Local Hospital Supply

The Kentucky Blood Center is asking Paintsville-area residents to roll up a sleeve and help replenish the local blood supply. A blood drive is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2nd, from noon until 5 p.m. at the Kentucky Blood Center bloodmobile at Walmart, 470 North Mayo Trail in Paintsville. Adalyn Ramey Wins Bluegrass Song of the Year at Hollywood Independent Music Awards

A 14-year-old Paintsville musician is bringing national attention to Eastern Kentucky after taking home a top honor at the 2026 Hollywood Independent Music Awards. Animal Alliance of East Kentucky Receives $500 Petco Love Grant

The Animal Alliance of East Kentucky is set to receive a $500 grant from national nonprofit Petco Love to support the organization's efforts to provide affordable veterinary care and spay and neuter services across Eastern Kentucky. 9th Street in Paintsville to Close Monday for Line Maintenance

Motorists in Paintsville should be prepared for a street closure beginning Monday. Paintsville Utilities says 9th Street will be closed from Broadway to Walnut Avenue for line maintenance. The closure could last for up to two weeks. Drivers should use an alternate route and allow extra time when traveling in the area. Paintsville Utilities apologizes for any inconvenience the closure may cause.

KY 1210 Bridge in David to Close for Repairs August 18–31

Motorists in Floyd County should be aware of an upcoming bridge closure in David.  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the bridge on KY 1210, near the KY 404 junction, will close Tuesday, August 18, around 9 a.m. for deck repairs.  Crews will repair a hole in the concrete bridge deck that is currently covered by a steel plate. Oregon Man Arrested in Floyd County on Sexual Abuse Charge

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSIP) – A 19-year-old Oregon man has been arrested following a Prestonsburg Police investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a 16-year-old. Police say Jesse Gent, of Sherwood, Oregon, is charged with third-degree sodomy after investigators determined he was in a position of trust or authority over the alleged victim.
