Hunt Event Scheduled to Control Deep Population Near Stone Crest Golf Course

A large deer population is causing damage at the Stone Crest Golf Course in Prestonsburg.

The City Council has approved a hunt using bows and crossbows to be held in the Stone Crest Golf Course area in January to reduce the deer population there.

The damage done by the deer includes damage to a greenhouse which costs $12,000 to replace.

Other damage is estimated to be valued at $8,000 to $10,000.

The proposed hunt is meant to control the population not to destroy it.
