Johnson County Man Charged After Bomb Threat Evacuates Judicial Center

A Johnson County man has been charged after a bomb threat prompted the evacuation of the Johnson County Judicial Center Friday morning.

Kentucky State Police say the threat was reported shortly before 9 a.m., leading officers and emergency responders to clear and search the building. No explosives were found.

Investigators traced the threatening phone call to a phone belonging to 43-year-old Dusty Hamilton of Paintsville.

Hamilton told troopers he had loaned his phone to an unknown woman before the call was made.

He was arrested on a charge of first-degree terroristic threatening and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.

The investigation is continuing.
