Kentucky Christian University Announces Commonwealth Commitment Grant

Kentucky Christian University (KCU) is proud to introduce the Commonwealth Commitment Grant, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at reducing costs and enhancing accessibility for Kentucky students. This new program is designed to eliminate financial barriers for individuals from lower-income families, ensuring that out-of-pocket expenses are eliminated. With the Commonwealth Commitment Grant, a Christ-centered degree at KCU will now be within reach for students, whether they choose to commute or live on campus.

Eligibility for the Commonwealth Commitment Grant is open to all Kentucky residents who receive at least a partial Pell Grant and Kentucky state grant funding. To apply, students need to complete the application process for both admission to KCU and the Commonwealth Grant through our convenient online platform. It is crucial for students to include Kentucky Christian University’s school code (001965) when completing the FAFSA application. In the initial stage of this program, 50 grants will be awarded.

Grants will primarily be awarded based on financial need, emphasizing KCU’s commitment to supporting students facing economic challenges. Successful applicants who continue to meet standard academic progress requirements and maintain Pell Grant eligibility will be awarded the scholarship annually for the duration of their attendance at Kentucky Christian University, which spans 8 semesters. This means that students receiving the Commonwealth Commitment Grant will have zero out-of-pocket costs for all four years at KCU.

“The Commonwealth Commitment Grant is a testament to Kentucky Christian University’s dedication to lowering costs and increasing access to higher education,” said John Penrose, KCU Vice President of Enrollment. “We strongly believe that this program will not only benefit individual students but also contribute to the overall development and prosperity of our community.”

To be considered for priority consideration, prospective students are encouraged to complete their KCU and KCU scholarship applications, as well as their FAFSA, by February 15, 2024. Detailed information can be found on the KCU website at KCU.edu, where applicants can click on the large tile labeled “Scholarships.”

Kentucky Christian University is committed to investing in the education of its community, and the Commonwealth Commitment Grant is a testament to this commitment. Eligible students are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to pursue their academic goals at KCU.
