Kentucky Ranks Fifth Lowest in U.S. for Kindergarten Vaccination Rates

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WSIP) – Kentucky ranks among the states with the lowest kindergarten vaccination rates in the nation, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC’s latest School VaxView survey found that 86 percent of Kentucky kindergarten students were fully vaccinated during the last school year, compared with a national average of 91 percent, ranking the Commonwealth fifth lowest in the country.

The report comes as the CDC says measles cases in the United States have reached their highest level in 35 years.
