Man Charged After Struggle with Magoffin Deputy in Salyersville

SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (WSIP) – A man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he fought with a Magoffin County deputy following reports he was attempting to break into homes and apartments in Salyersville.

52-year-old Timothy Lynn McKenzie allegedly became combative, charged at the deputy and fled on foot after a Taser deployment proved ineffective.

Following a second struggle, McKenzie was taken into custody.

Investigators say he was under the influence of methamphetamine and was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on multiple charges including burglary, assault of an officer and public intoxication.
