FRANKFORT, Ky. (WSIP) – Drivers across Kentucky are being reminded of a new law changing when motorists must stop for school buses as students head back to class.
House Bill 7 now requires drivers traveling in the opposite direction on multi-lane roads to stop when a school bus has its stop arm extended.
The law also allows school districts to install cameras on school bus stop arms to help identify violators.
Drivers who fail to stop face a $300 fine for a first offense and $500 for subsequent violations.
