Contract crews with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 12 continued work today on the KY 40 project in Johnson County, milling and removing a section of asphalt near the KY 172 intersection.
Once milling is complete, asphalt paving will begin Wednesday, May 7, at the west end of the project, specifically at the intersection of KY 40 and KY 580 (Pickle Fork). The project is located from MP 5.5 to MP 8.5, a distance of 2.97 miles.
This paving operation is expected to take approximately four days—weather permitting.
Message boards will be activated when crews are actively working near the U.S. 460 and KY 40 intersection. Motorists are urged to use caution in the work zone, obey all posted signs, and watch for flaggers when present.
KYTC District 12 appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to improve roads in Eastern Kentucky.
