PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WSIP) – Citizens Bank of Kentucky is warning residents about suspicious mailings targeting senior citizens.
The mailings reportedly contain a $10 check from an organization using the name “Senior Benefits.” Officials warn that cashing or responding to the check could result in unwanted phone calls, visits, or sales solicitations for products and services.
Anyone receiving one of the checks is encouraged to contact their bank before depositing it. Those who do not wish to participate should shred the check and any accompanying paperwork.
Residents are also encouraged to warn elderly family members and neighbors about the mailings.
