West Liberty Man Dies After Reported Electrocution in Paintsville

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (WSIP) – Authorities are investigating a fatal electrocution incident Friday evening in Johnson County.

According to the Johnson County Coroner’s office, 48-year old Jonathon Brown of West Liberty, was on a telescopic lift pressure washing near live power lines when the incident occurred. Officials are investigating whether he fell or struck the power lines with the bucket.

The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. on KY Route 40 near Foothills Communications in Paintsville, closing the road for a period of time.

Brown was not an employee of Foothills Communications, but was a contractor hired to do pressure washing for the company.

Brown’s body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s office is continuing the investigation.
