Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear’s senior advisor, Rocky Adkins, has stepped down after serving his last day on July 10.
Beshear thanked the former House leader for helping guide Kentucky through the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple natural disasters and years of economic growth.
Adkins joined the administration in 2019 after representing Rowan, Elliott and Lewis counties in the Kentucky House for more than 30 years.
It has also been reported that Adkins plans to announce his campaign for governor next week.
Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman has already entered the 2027 governor’s race.
Ray Perry, who has served as deputy secretary of the Governor’s Executive Cabinet since April, will become Beshear’s new senior advisor.
