Kentucky Main Street Peppermint Trail is Underway

The Kentucky Main Street Peppermint Trail has officially started.  This year, 23 Kentucky Main Street communities are participating in the Peppermint Trail – an initiative to increase visitation to small towns, local businesses, and artisans during the Christmas season. Collect at least four stamps on your Peppermint Passport from communities along the trail, and you could win a prize package valued at $1,000. A few of the communities participating this year include Morehead, Pikeville, and Salyersville.

It’s National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is holding its National Collection Week through November 25th.  The First Baptist Church, in Inez, will participate in the nationwide program.  This week, you can pack shoeboxes with gifts for children in need worldwide and drop them off at the First Baptist Church in Inez.  Last year, two high school groups and 14 churches in Martin County came together to create over 800 shoeboxes.   The Southside Freewill Baptist Church in Paintsville is also accepting Operation Christmas Child […]

Christian Appalachian Project’s Operation Sharing Program Brings Christmas to Eastern Kentucky

Christian Appalachian Project’s Operation Sharing received approximately 75 semi tractor loads of toys for all ages. CAP is working to coordinate with Family Resource Coordinators in all 54 distressed Appalachian counties in Eastern Kentucky, as well as 4 distressed Appalachian counties in Tennessee to distribute roughly 2.8 million toys. The goal is to provide all children in those counties with toys in partnership with local school districts. Kentucky Blood Center to Host Blood Drive in Salyersville

The recent hurricanes have put a strain on the blood supply.  The Kentucky Blood Center is going to visit Salyersville for a blood drive that will help restock local supplies.  The blood drive will be held Friday, November 8th at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 1 to 5:30 p.m.  Donors will receive a free Eat, Donate, Hibernate, Repeat t-shirt.  You can get an appointment at the Kentucky Blood Center website.
