Kentucky State Police Seeks Public Votes in National Cruiser Contest

Kentucky State Police are asking for your vote in a national competition to crown America’s best-looking police cruiser.

Governor Andy Beshear and the Kentucky State Police are encouraging Kentuckians to support the agency’s entry in the 2026 American Association of State Troopers Best Looking Cruiser Contest.

This year’s photo features a 2024 Mustang GT cruiser parked outside the Kentucky State Police Academy in Frankfort. Officials say the image highlights the dedication, training and sacrifice of Kentucky troopers, while also honoring the 39 officers who have died in the line of duty. The photo includes the bronze statue known as “The Trooper,” created in the likeness of Trooper James W. McNeely, who lost his life during a Kentucky River rescue mission in 1972.

KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. says the photo represents the devotion, commitment and service that troopers provide to communities across the Commonwealth every day.

Kentucky has finished among the contest’s top five entries for the past eight years and won the national title in both 2021 and 2022.

Voting is open now through noon Eastern on Friday, July 10. Residents can vote once per device through the Kentucky State Police’s social media pages and official contest link.
