The Kentucky Blood Center is encouraging local residents to help prevent blood shortages by donating at an upcoming blood drive in Paintsville. The drive will be held Monday, August 10, from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. at the MCCC HomePlace Clinic Bloodmobile, located at 838 South Mayo Trail.

Donors will receive a limited-edition “Only You Can Prevent Blood Shortages” T-shirt while supplies last. The Kentucky Blood Center supplies blood to more than 70 hospitals across Central and Eastern Kentucky, where donations are especially needed during the busy summer months.

Eligible donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with parental consent, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and present a photo ID. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.
