The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 12 advises motorists of an upcoming temporary road closure on KY 581 (Tutor Key) in Johnson County for a culvert replacement project.
Beginning Tuesday, July 21, KYTC maintenance crews will replace a culvert located beneath the roadway at mile point 2.8, just before the Johnson County Garage Road and Homestead Estates. Crews will cut across all lanes for the replacement resulting in a full closure on KY 581 at the project site.

- Closure Time: Beginning at 7:30 a.m. until work is completed, with reopening anticipated by approximately 7:00 p.m., barring unforeseen conditions.
Motorists should plan ahead and use alternate routes while the roadway is closed. Available detours include:
- Whippoorwill Road to U.S. 23
- KY 993 to U.S. 23
- KY 3224 to U.S. 23
Advance warning signs will be installed prior to the closure, and barricades and barrels will be in place at the work site to direct traffic.
KYTC reminds motorists to slow down, obey all posted signs, and avoid the work area if possible. While crews will work to complete the replacement as quickly as possible, the schedule is weather dependent and may change if conditions warrant.
