SOAR, KCTCS Launch New Training Program for Nuclear Energy Careers

A new workforce training program is aiming to connect Eastern Kentuckians with careers in the growing nuclear energy industry.

Shaping Our Appalachian Region, or SOAR, has partnered with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System to launch a 16-week training pathway at six community colleges across the region.

The program will prepare participants for nuclear outage work through technical instruction, hands-on labs, and career readiness training.

SOAR says graduates will have access to hiring events and job opportunities with industry partners, including Westinghouse, Framatome, and WECTEC Staffing Services.

Officials say the initiative is designed to help Eastern Kentuckians build high-paying careers while continuing to call the region home.
