PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WSIP) – A former Pike County substitute teacher has been sentenced to two years in prison in connection with a case involving a teenage student. Twenty-eight-year-old Hunter Plymale was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to third-degree rape. Hagerhill man arrested after evading police during traffic stop

HAGERHILL, Ky. (WSIP) – A Hagerhill man was taken into custody after he attempted to run from Paintsville Police during a traffic stop. 61-year-old James Music was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for speeding on U.S. 23. Music resisted arrest and was later subdued by a taser. Police recovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Music is facing numerous charges and is currently being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.

Classes resume for many eastern Kentucky students this week

Magoffin County man accused of beating ex-wife during domestic violence incident

SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (WSIP) – A Magoffin County man is facing a felony assault charge after Kentucky State Police say he severely beat his ex-wife during a domestic violence incident Saturday. Troopers say 53-year-old Brian Pennington allegedly struck the woman with a wooden object before punching her multiple times, leaving her with a head wound and numerous bruises. West Van Lear man arrested, charged with murder following altercation

THEALKA, Ky. (WSIP) - Kentucky State Police have released the identity of the victim involved in a shooting early Saturday in Johnson County. According to Kentucky State Police, Richard Roberts, of River, was found dead from a gunshot wound in the driveway of a residence on Main Camp Branch. Two men arrested after 15-mile chase

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (WSIP) – Two men were arrested Sunday after Kentucky State Police say they led troopers on a 15-mile pursuit through Johnson County in a pickup truck carrying suspected stolen AT&T communication line. A traffic stop was attempted on U.S. 23 in Paintsville after troopers spotted a truck without a visible registration plate and with excessive window tint.
