Martin County Man Arrested Following Domestic Incident

In Inez, police were called to investigate a domestic incident and arrested Jeffery W. Pinson.  A 911 dispatcher said during a call they could hear a woman screaming along with a male and children’s voices.  The woman accused Pinson of strangling her, and she feared for her life.  He was arrested at that time.

Two Facing Charges Following Drug Bust in Martin County

Charges of child endangerment are being filed against Jessica Harless, of Inez.  The Martin County Sheriff’s Department was investigating complaints of drug trafficking at the home. During the investigation, Harless confessed that she had marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the house and had used marijuana earlier that day.  Deputies called Child and Family Services after seeing a 12-year-old child and the home had no running water.  Harless and a man in the home, Jonathan Mollett, were arrested and transported to the […]

Woman Arrested in Prestonsburg Walmart Return Scheme

Prestonsburg Police have arrest Pamella Mullins at Walmart.  Store security called police saying that Mullins had been seen taking items from store shelves and then taking them to Customer Service and trying to return the items for store gift cards.  Store management told police that Mullins had repeated the scheme 17 times, netting $1,600 in gift cards.  Walmart video confirms all the transactions.

KDMC Prestonsburg Receives Award from American College of Cardiology

The King’s Daughters Medical Center in Prestonsburg has received an award from the American College of Cardiology for its treatment of patients who come to an electrophysiology lab for care.  The Paintsville Herald noted that the award is for what the patients receive, the highest quality of care in alignment with up-to-date, evidence-based practices. King’s Daughters has also been recognized as a HeartCARE Center of Excellence.

Statewide Substance Abuse Call Center Expands Hours

A call center which provides a confidential line that helps Kentuckians seeking help for substance abuse has expanded their hours. The weekday hours of the KY HELP statewide call center will be Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.  Saturday and Sunday hours will remain the same, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

City of Prestonsburg Holding Public Meeting to Discuss Flood Mitigation

A plan for flood mitigation will be a major point of discussion with the City of Prestonsburg holding a public meeting Thursday.  The project affects the residents of the Mays Branch Road area and was originally pitched and funded in 2016.  Now, the plans have been modified to address some of the most problematic and flood-prone areas of the creeks and ditches in the area. The meeting will be Thursday at the Mountain Arts Center.

The board of directors of W.R. Castle Fire & Rescue in Johnson County, Kentucky is pleased to announce the completion of a merger with the River Volunteer Fire Department.
