KY 2491 Closure in Wolfe County Starting Jan. 16

Closure expected for one week, motorists will be detoured SALYERSVILLE, Ky. Police Arrest Pike County Man Wanted for Drug Trafficking

A Pike County man who avoided arrest since last March has been apprehended by police. Justin Tacket was indicted last March for drug trafficking and failed to show for his arraignment on March 15th.  Police arrested him Friday night and he now faces serval additional charges including fleeing from police November 16th.

Man Facing DUI Charges Following Police Chase in Floyd County

A police chase in Floyd County led to the arrest of Jeffery Hunter on Friday night. A Sheriff’s deputy was on patrol about 11:30 Friday night when he spotted a car pull onto the road from Route 466, then into the path of another car. The car took off after noticing the deputy. Johnson County Woman Facing Drug Charges

Police have arrested a Johnson County woman charging her with being intoxicated on drugs with her two children in the home.  The Paintsville Herald reports that Kansas Lyons was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and drug paraphernalia.  Her two children were placed with a family member, and the Department of Social Services was notified.

Johnson County Man Facing Drug Charges

A Johnson County man, Brian Charles, has been arrested on several drug charges. Police went to his home to investigate a report of shots fired.  No gunshot victims were found, but police did spot a bag of meth lying out in the open in the garage. A search of the home found another bag of meth, two bags of marijuana, three bags of pills, and various types of paraphernalia.

Investigation Into Missing Person Case in Breathitt County

The investigation into a missing Breathitt County woman has led to the arrest of Faily Napier. County Sheriff John Hollan told WYMT that they detained Fairly Napier as a person of interest early Sunday morning. After questioning, he was arrested and taken to the Kentucky River Regional Jail on unknown charges. The Sheriff said human remains were found burned in a car in a remote area of KY-1098. Latest Kentucky Unemployment Rates Released

Unemployment rates rose in 117 counties between November 2022 and November 2023.  Magoffin and Martin counties recorded the state’s highest unemployment rates at 8.4 percent each. They were followed by Lewis County at 7.2 percent, Elliott County with 7.1 percent, and Woodford County with the lowest jobless rate in the commonwealth at 2.9 percent.

Fatal Fire in Fallsburg

A fatal fire on December 27th in the Fallsburg area has claimed the life of 63-year-old Kenny Marcum. Marcum was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire at 8132 Hwy 828 Twin Branch. Kentucky Fire Marshal and the Kentucky State Police are investigating.
